Brain Injury WE ARE READY TO HELP

Baltimore Brain Injury Attorneys

Representing Brain Injury Misdiagnosis Victims in Baltimore County & Prince George’s County

A simple fall or blow to the head can result in a traumatic brain injury (TBI). You should always see a doctor as soon as possible after an accident, even if you initially feel fine. Unfortunately, many TBIs are overlooked or misdiagnosed, resulting in delayed diagnoses and serious consequences, including permanent brain damage – and, in some cases, death.

If your doctor failed to promptly diagnose a TBI or any other brain injury, you may be entitled to compensation for your losses. At Miller Stern Lawyers, we routinely help victims of medical malpractice hold negligent parties accountable and recover damages. You will work directly with our Baltimore brain injury lawyers throughout our handling of your case, and our entire team will work to support your needs. We have successfully represented thousands of satisfied clients and have contributed to verdicts and settlements worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Our legal professionals have what it takes to win these cases and will do everything we can to maximize your recovery.

How Do I Know If I Have a Brain Injury?

You are at heightened risk of brain injury when you hit your head in a fall, collision, auto accident, contact sport, or any other situation where you sustain blunt force trauma. You may be tempted to shake off the incident and move on, but you should always see a doctor right away, as brain injuries require prompt treatment to prevent catastrophic consequences. The longer a brain injury goes undiagnosed and untreated, the worse it will likely get.

Symptoms that may suggest a brain injury (including a TBI) include:

  • Dizziness
  • Headaches
  • Nausea
  • Loss of balance
  • Sleeping too much
  • Fatigue
  • Unusual sensitivity to light and/or sound

Some doctors will dismiss these symptoms and negligently assume they are the result of a less serious condition. As a result, they may assure you that you are fine and not run the appropriate tests or scans that would confirm the existence of a TBI or any other type of brain injury.

An undiagnosed and untreated brain injury can lead to:

  • Loss of vision, hearing, and/or speech
  • Seizures
  • Frequent losses of consciousness and/or basic coordination
  • Frequent vomiting
  • An inability to consistently wake from sleep
  • Memory loss
  • Paralysis
  • Coma
  • Death

What Should I Do If My Brain Injury Was Misdiagnosed?

If you believe you may have been misdiagnosed, speak to your doctor and ask for a complete evaluation, including all pertinent tests and scans. If they are uncooperative or still do not believe you have a brain injury, get a second opinion from another medical professional. Again, time is of the essence: The sooner you get an accurate diagnosis, the better.

Should you discover you do have a brain injury and were initially misdiagnosed, you should immediately contact our Baltimore brain injury attorneys. We can evaluate your circumstances and explain your legal options.

You will only have a limited amount of time to take legal action. In Maryland, victims of medical malpractice have only five years from the date of their injury or three years from the date they discovered their injury, whichever comes first, to file a lawsuit. If a brain injury resulted in death, you will have three years from the date of your loved one’s passing to file a wrongful death claim.

Miller Stern Lawyers will fight to recover compensation for:

  • Medical expenses
  • Lost wages
  • Reductions in earning capacity
  • Physical pain and mental suffering

We emphasize a personal touch in our legal representation and have fostered lasting relationships with many of the people we have helped.
