On Tuesday, December 1, 2020, police responded to a serious car crash involving two vehicles in White Marsh. The vehicles were identified as a 2017 Hyundai and a 2019 Volkswagen.
According to authorities, the driver of the Hyundai was heading southbound on Belair Road when the driver of the Volkswagen tried to make a left turn onto north Belair Road from Virginia Avenue. The Hyundai hit the Volkswagen on the driver’s side.
The driver of the Volkswagen, Eddie Louis Bibbs was transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The three passengers of the Hyundai were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, while the driver did not report any issues. Unfortunately, Bibbs succumbed to his injuries several days later.
Fatal car crashes are a devastating situation. Many factors can play a role. Is it possible that the Hyundai driver was speeding? Perhaps the driver of the Volkswagen did not see the oncoming Hyundai, considering the time of night. The weather and traffic could also have played a role.
The injured from both vehicles deserve justice. However, an insurance company may try to reduce their losses with an early offer.
Be on the lookout for an early offer from the insurance company because it will release all subsequent claims. It is very common for the insurance company of the at-fault party to offer the injured party a nominal amount to release them of all claims without any consideration of the extent of the injured party’s injuries.
